Our short and long study visits are immersions into Hästekasen village’s lifestyle. Discover our small scale permaculture farm and how we try to apply some concepts and principles into our life. You will learn through our own mistakes, and get theoretical insights as well as an on land practical experience.
You will understand how we have organised our homestead, solving issues around: food production, water, sewage, warmth, shelter, recycling, compost, etc.
An educational parenthesis from everyday life.
Some concepts we use
Agroforestry is a cultivation method where you mimic the forest, one of nature’s natural states.
Natural building is something we do a lot of, simple and cheap buildings with our land’s ressources.
Permaculture (perma=permanent, lasting; culture=cultivation) is a planned cultivation system with nature’s growth patterns and diversity as a model. Attempts have been made to protect the word with copyright, but this has not succeeded, as the concept includes a multitude of long-known techniques and ways of thinking. Permaculture expands the activity of “cultivation” by involving the everyday social aspect of your life and seeing larger wholes.
Self-sufficiency means for us that you increase your activity as a producer in relation to your role as a consumer. You satisfy more of your own needs and become more independent.
Small-scale is everything from a cultivation box on the balcony to fields that generate saleable surpluses.
We plan study visits according to demand.
